The Boot Camp Programs are 6-week self-management training programs implemented by clinicians. The programs provide education, specific exercises, postural instruction and self-management strategies for spine and other musculoskeletal disorders. The programs use a cognitive behavioural approach with a focus on improving functional status. We have developed patient workbooks and educational videos that include instruction on specific exercises both physical and psychosocial. We also have training videos for clinicians demonstrating specific manual therapy techniques and how to implement the various boot camp programs into routine clinical care.

The patient workbook provides information on spinal stenosis and step-by-step instruction on how to perform specific exercises and body re-alignment techniques. This patient workbook is essential and guides both patient and clinician through each visit of the six-week program. The workbook instruction on specific exercises and self-management strategies are directed to the structural and biomechanical factors that impact standing, walking and functional abilities in lumbar spinal stenosis. patient instructional video provides educational information and demonstrates step-by-step all the specific exercises, body re-alignment techniques and self-management strategies. A pedometer is recommended to accompany the patient workbookThe pedometer provides a means to track improvements in walking ability.
